‘House At The Corner’, Barrow in Furness
We were contacted by the client to request a suitable quality exterior masonry coating for the external of their property.
It was decided that we would clean down all existing painted masonry features by way of power washing and using anti-fungal solution where necessary to stop the growth of any algae.
The client also requested the removal of existing coatings from the feature brickwork string course. This was done by way of chemical means using Nitromors and wire brushes.
After this work was completed all UPVC doors and windows were masked up to prevent any contact with the application of new coatings.
Once this work was carried out we recommended the use of Leyland Pliolite resin based exterior masonry coatings to existing painted dashing and feature cills, heads and bays, with the string course brickwork being left in its original state. All works were carried out by brushing and roller.
Upon completion of the work all UPVC fascias, soffits and barge boards were washed with industrial wiping cloths to bring back to their original state to compliment the decoration.
Mary Magdalene Church, Broughton
Working as a sub Contractor for Samuel Sheldon Ltd, we were commissioned to carry out a painting overhaul of this historically significant Parish Church. As the building is a registered listed building, specialist paint systems were specified which complied with National Heritage guidelines.
The Ceilings were coated with specialist soft aglaia natural emulsion lime style paint which involved intricate cutting in around the roof beams and features prior to preservative stain to woodwork being applied. Walls were coated with a complex Beecks quartz paint system which consisted of bonding coat, quartz filler and quartz finish.
As the works proceeded many areas required re plastering resulting in all new plastered areas requiring a Beecks fixative coat to seal the porous substrate. The works were further complicated as phased scaffold erection and dismantling was necessary to ensure continuity.
Matalan, Barrow in Furness
Working as a sub Contractor to City Build of Manchester, we were awarded the contract of carrying out painting works to the internal of the industrial unit following a severe Fire.
The internal of the building was smoke damaged and all the steelwork had to be pressure washed prior to painting works commencing. The steelwork had to be wiped clean before an initial coat of obliterating primer followed by undercoat and one gloss coat. The steelwork was intricate with various areas of lattice crossbeams and access was gained using scissor lifts.
Delays in the main contractors programme and the refusal of the client to change the handover date resulted in the painting works being compressed into a short time span of two and a half weeks at the end of the programme. This is not an unusual occurrence in the decorating industry and all efforts were intensified to achieve the deadline. Four scissor lifts and a team of 6 decorators were employed to carry out the works and completion was achieved with days in hand. As the steelwork was progressing a further team was carrying out re decoration of the office areas with standard emulsion finishes.
All the works were completed to a very high standard to the satisfaction of the client who commended us on our professionalism. As a result of their satisfaction further works were awarded to redecorate walls and floors during the unit fit out after handover to the client and once again working to tight deadlines, satisfactory completion was achieved to the delight of all concerned
